We had a small house in 23rd st just above chester creek and very close to the fireweedlane theater. So we spent many a weekend at the movie theater. Also there use to be a small indoor modle race car track by the school I went to for a short while in spanard that was a fun place to hang out and watch the guys race there cars.

Samuel – Must have been very convenient to be so close to the Fireweed Theatre. And the indoor slot car track sounds like it was a lot of fun too. Thank you for sharing.

Wow, let's go! 4th ave theater, sneaking in the billiken drive-in, eating at brown's A&W, lucky wishbone, dancing at the armory, cinnamon cinder, bun drive-in and so much more! Special memory is driving at night with my father and looking at the star on the mountain feeling warm and secure.

Oh my, there are so many good memories in this email! My favorite theatre was the Billiken Drive-In on Muldoon Road, because my mom worked there for one winter, I think it was 1965-66. And that photo of the The Bun is a delight because that could have been my Dad’s ‘58 Cadillac and my fiancé’s ‘56 Buick parked in front! And as a teenager I never missed Ron Moore’s show and called in all the time requesting my favorite songs! Enjoying my morning coffee and basking in the memories... Thank you once again for sharing our history!

Helen – Great memories! So your dad's car might be the 1958 Cadillac parked in front of the Bun Drive-In? Very cool. And thank you for your kind comments about the Anchorage Memories VIP Club.

My family and all the families in our neighborhood loved going to the movies. Waiting to see the next John Wayne or Paul Newman movie and enjoying the popcorn, candy and soda was just plain fun!

Mary – going to see a movie at an Anchorage theatre was lots of fun… And so was talking about the movie after seeing the film.

regarding stock car racing...Don't forget the race track at Debarr and Bragaw. Some great videos of those events. All the way from kids on go-karts to smash-em up events for the "older boys"; or is that "younger men?"
